2025 GPFM Insight Reports of IPs - AI-driven Renewable Energy Innovation

At COP30 in Belém, Brazil, in November 2025, the Mission released the GPFM Insight Reports, which gather diverse global perspectives and application cases addressing the specific Innovation Priorities of three Pillars.

This report, AI-driven Renewable Energy Innovation, presents groundbreaking advancements in AI applications for renewable energy, showcasing transformative solutions in wind and solar PV integration. It evolves from discrete predictive tools into an integrated system that unifies simulation, planning, design, and operation/maintenance processes. By integrating Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) with fluid dynamics equations, the research achieves unprecedented precision in wind farm optimization, significantly enhancing energy capture efficiency while ensuring physical plausibility in predictions. Federated learning frameworks enable collaborative training of global models using decentralized utility datasets, all while preserving data privacy. Additionally, edge AI deployment on turbines and inverters facilitates real-time anomaly detection with minimal power consumption. As many global energy companies adopt AI, this technology is transitioning renewable ecosystems toward self-optimization, bridging technical feasibility, economic viability, and environmental sustainability to accelerate the net-zero transition.
