THE GREEN POWERED FUTURE MISSION

The Green Powered Future Mission (GPFM), launched within the second phase of the global initiative Mission Innovation (MI2.0), is a public-private partnership with members from MI countries, private sector companies and international organisations.

Scope and Objectives

The Green Powered Future Mission (GPFM) aims to demonstrate that by 2030 power systems in different geographies and climates, are able to effectively integrate up to 100% variable renewable energies, like wind and solar, in their generation mix and maintain a cost-efficient, secure and resilient system. The GPFM is a 10-year endeavour which will accelerate innovation in clean energy by demonstrating innovative solutions to transform the present system. It is organised around three R&I pillars covering the whole spectrum of power system innovation needs:

Pillar 1 - Affordable and reliable VRE

Pillar 2 - System flexibility and market design

Pillar 3 - Data and digitalisation for system integration

The Mission is driven by 29 members from around the world, including MI2.0 member states, private sector companies and international organizations.
Through their commitment, the Mission will lead the way in R&I towards global power system transformation and progress the clean energy revolution in this decade.1736776412095091692.png

GPFM R&I Pillars Brief Intro

  • I

Pillar 1 - Affordable and Reliable VRE

Reduce cost and increase efficiency, resilience and reliability of variable renewable energy technologies in various climates and system configurations.

  • II

Pillar 2 - System Flexibility and Market Design

Develop the much-needed flexible solutions to meet network infrastructure needs, to be supported by regulation and innovative markets design.

  • III

Pillar 3 - Data and Digitalization for System Integration

Accelerate the digitalization of energy systems through development of interoperable data exchange and effective system integration to unlock the full value of VRE.

About MI

Mission Innovation (MI) is a global initiative catalyzing a decade of action and investment in research, development and demonstration to make clean energy affordable, attractive and accessible for all. This will accelerate progress towards the Paris Agreement goals and pathways to net zero.
